In May of 2000, 3 teachers and 8 students from Shchors, Ukraine came to visit America on a student cultural exchange program. I met them in Wisconsin and for 2 weeks in August of 2001 I visited them in their country. Then in 2002, I returned to the Ukraine, spending the summer teaching English. This website contains pictures from my summer visit teaching English. I am asking others to come with me to teach English in the Ukraine.
If that is not possible, your support in other ways are possible. In
2001 Ukraine celebrated 10 years of their independence from the former
communist Soviet Union. It has been very interesting meeting 3 generations
of Ukrainians. The older people speak of times before domination under
communism. Their adult children sometimes long for the more economic
prosperous times under communist. While the younger children do not
know of the former life under communism. There are many needs, especially
for money and educational materials. I look forward to hearing from
others and sharing with you my hopes and dreams for contributing to
the lives of my new friends in the Ukraine, a country rich and history
and many possibilities for the future. Thank you for visiting this website,
